About

School History and Operation

Capital City Alternative School was established in 1993. Mandated by the Mississippi legislature, the Board of Trustees of the Jackson Public Schools established an alternative education program in connection with the regular programs of the school district. The program is designed to serve as an alternative for students in the grades 4-12 who have been suspended/expelled from the Jackson Public Schools for 10 days or longer. The program also serves as a learning alternative for students who had difficulty adjusting to the regular classroom setting or who were discipline problems in the classroom or school itself.
